White House Accused of Leaking Biden-Netanyahu Call to Appease Critics

The White House has been accused of deliberately leaking audio of a recent phone call between President Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an effort to appease Biden’s critics of his support for Israel. During the call Biden told Netanyahu that the United States would not support him in a retaliatory military response towards Iran for its deadly missile attack on Israel.

Biden’s statement to Netanyahu is a complete reversal as the president had earlier said that the United States’ support for Israel was “ironclad.” That has changed however with the possibility of Israel daring to strike back against Iran for its unprecedented attack.

In the aftermath of the leak Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) accused the White House of leaking the phone call on purpose in order to score political points with the Islamic community which has notably begun to turn its back on the president due to his past support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.

“There’s only one reason they leaked that,” Rubio said. “And that is that so when Israel does respond the White House can say ‘We told them not to do it’ and at least somehow in some way appease these so-called peace activists.”

Rubio continued further saying that the same people calling for a ceasefire in Gaza are cheering on the Iranian missile strikes against Israel saying that they are not actually for peace but for the destruction of Israel as a nation. Further clarifying his views Rubio dubbed these “peace activists” as actually “pro-terrorist.”

Rubio also said that Biden’s weak stance towards Israel would embolden the nation’s enemies and encourage them to continue attacks in the future not fearing retaliation. “It is the continuing part of this public game that they are playing which frankly encourages Iran and Hezbollah which we haven’t even talked about and the Houthis and all these other elements that are targeting Israel” he said.

For Israel’s part, the nation’s representatives have already stated just weeks ago that they are willing to do whatever is necessary to defend their country — with or without the United States’ support.
