While Univision and Telemundo are reporting on the crimes of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA), mainstream media outlets are failing to inform the public about the growing threat this violent organization poses to cities across the U.S. The gang, which has been involved in human trafficking and violent crime, is now operating in several major cities, but the coverage has been limited to Spanish-language networks.
In a revealing interview with Univision, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny detailed the challenges of identifying TdA members in New York City. Due to sanctuary city laws, law enforcement officers cannot inquire about a suspect’s immigration status, making it difficult to track and prosecute TdA operatives. Kenny also shared that TdA members have been involved in violent incidents, including a shooting involving a 15-year-old migrant in Times Square.
Telemundo’s coverage included expert analysis from former FBI agent Daniel Brunner, who stated that TdA poses a far greater threat than MS-13, given its level of organization and criminal activity. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to label the gang a Foreign Terrorist Organization was another key point highlighted by both networks, underscoring the gravity of the threat.
Despite these alarming developments, networks like ABC, CBS and NBC have failed to cover the growing presence of TdA, prompting accusations of bias and selective reporting. Critics argue that the mainstream media is deliberately avoiding stories that might reflect poorly on the Biden-Harris regime’s immigration policies, which have allowed criminal elements to enter the country alongside migrants.
Univision and Telemundo have, at least, acknowledged the danger posed by TdA, but their coverage contrasts sharply with the silence from other major news outlets. As law enforcement struggles to address the gang’s criminal activities, the lack of mainstream coverage leaves the American public in the dark about the true extent of the threat.
