Tucker Carlson addressed the Republican National Convention, discussing the recent assassination attempt on President Donald Trump and declaring that Trump has emerged as a true leader of the nation. Carlson’s remarks came after the GOP nominee was shot at a rally, an incident that left two men critically injured and another dead.
“When [Trump] stood up after being shot in the face, bloodied, and put his hand up, I thought at that moment, this was a transformation,” Carlson said during his speech at the RNC. “He was no longer just a political party’s nominee. This was the leader of a nation.”
Carlson emphasized that titles like president or nominee do not inherently make someone a leader. He argued that true leadership is organic and cannot be assigned. “You can’t name someone a leader, a leader is the bravest man. That’s what a leader is. That is true in all human organizations. This is a law of nature, and in that moment, Donald Trump months before the presidential election became the leader of this nation,” he stated.
The attempt on Trump’s life occurred earlier on Saturday during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, attempted to assassinate the 45th president. Trump was struck in the ear but was spared serious injury. Unfortunately, two men were critically injured, and another individual in the audience was killed by the gunfire.
Carlson noted that the experience had changed Trump, marking a pivotal moment in his leadership journey. He highlighted the bravery Trump displayed by standing up, bloodied, and raising his hand, demonstrating resilience and strength.
The incident has underscored the contentious and dangerous nature of the current political climate. As the nation watches, Trump’s response to this life-threatening event has solidified his role not just as a candidate, but as a leader in the eyes of many supporters.
