Trump Would Consider Elon Musk For Cabinet Role, Praises His Business Acumen

President Donald Trump suggested Monday that he would offer a Cabinet position or advisory role to Elon Musk if the Tesla and SpaceX CEO were interested. During an interview, Trump lauded Musk’s business acumen, describing him as a “brilliant guy” whose expertise could be valuable in his administration. The comments reflect the growing alignment between the two influential figures.

“He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would [offer him a role] if he would do it,” Trump said. The remarks followed a conversation between Trump and Musk on X, where they discussed various issues. Musk has publicly supported Trump’s campaign, although he has denied reports that he directly contributed to it. However, Musk acknowledged donating to a pro-Trump political action committee.

In the same interview, Trump shared his thoughts on the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles. He expressed skepticism about the policy, even though Tesla has benefited from such incentives. “Tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing,” Trump remarked, though he stopped short of committing to eliminating the credit.

Trump also outlined plans to boost domestic car manufacturing by encouraging foreign companies to build plants in the U.S. and hire American workers. “We’re going to make our own cars,” he said, emphasizing the importance of job creation and economic growth. The potential inclusion of Musk in a future Trump administration adds a new layer to the evolving relationship between the two high-profile leaders.
