Trump Names Tom Homan As Border Czar To End Illegal Immigration Surge

Announcing the decision on Truth Social, Trump described Homan as the ideal candidate, stating, “There is nobody better at policing and controlling our borders.” Homan, a former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), will serve as Border Czar, a role that does not require Senate confirmation.

Homan’s primary focus will be securing both the southern and northern borders while overseeing the deportation of illegal migrants. His appointment comes as Trump prepares to target the 1.3 million individuals already ordered to leave the country after exhausting their legal options. Migrants with criminal convictions will also be prioritized under this plan.

This announcement follows what conservatives describe as years of unchecked migration under the Biden-Harris administration. Approximately 9 million migrants crossed the border during Biden’s presidency, putting pressure on local communities and law enforcement.

While Homan’s position grants him significant influence within the White House, it does not provide the full authority of an agency leader. However, Trump has promised to appoint a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief who aligns with his vision for immigration enforcement.
