Trump Demands FBI Transparency After Quiet DEI Office Shutdown

President Donald Trump is calling out the FBI for its silent closure of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) just ahead of his return to the presidency. Trump voiced his outrage on Truth Social, labeling the move as corrupt and demanding the preservation of all related documents.

“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump wrote. “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”

The FBI confirmed to Fox News that the ODI was shut down in December 2024 but did not provide a reason for its decision. The sudden closure has raised concerns about what the agency might be hiding as the administration prepares for a leadership change.

Throughout his campaign, Trump vowed to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in government, calling them wasteful and harmful to national security. His plan included penalties for universities that continue promoting DEI policies.

Trump’s pick to lead the FBI, Kash Patel, has echoed these criticisms, stating that DEI programs weaken the agency’s focus on critical law enforcement duties.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has also raised alarms about the FBI’s involvement in DEI efforts. In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Blackburn argued that prioritizing diversity initiatives could jeopardize public safety.

Across the country, DEI programs in universities and public agencies have been downsized or eliminated in response to growing opposition.
