Most far-left Democratic lawmakers walked in lockstep with President Joe Biden when his policies fueled inflation and brought on an unprecedented border invasion. It was when he dared to support Israel’s right to defend itself following a terrorist attack, however, that many of his one-time supporters drew the line.
Among the most prominent examples is U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), who has the distinction of being the only Palestinian-American serving in Congress. Her stance on the topic has included rhetoric widely deemed antisemitic, resulting in a censure by House Republicans and even some of her fellow Democrats.
Ahead of her state’s primary election, Tlaib is urging Democratic voters to oppose Biden, as she explained in her latest anti-Israel screed.
“It is important, as you all know, to not only march against the genocide, not only make sure that we’re calling our members of Congress and local electeds and passing city resolutions all throughout the country,” she said. “It is also important to create a voting bloc, something that is a bullhorn to say enough is enough.”
Her remarks came during a speech in Dearborn, which last year became America’s first Arab-majority city.
“We don’t want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction,” Tlaib continued. “We want to support life. We want to stand up for every single life killed in Gaza.”
Notably missing in her tirade was any reference to the innocent Israelis killed, maimed or taken hostage when Hamas terrorists staged an unprovoked attack in October.
Instead, she focused solely on the “amazing young children and the people, again, lives were lost in Gaza.”
She concluded with a call to like-minded pro-Palestine activists to refrain from voting for the incumbent in the Democratic primary.
“Don’t make us even more invisible,” she pleaded. “Right now, we feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government. If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted.”

Tlaib’s remarks were amplified by Listen to Michigan, a group that has similarly accused the Biden administration of “funding war and genocide in Gaza.”
Its website provides a similar instruction for voters, asserting: “Uncommitted Michigan Democrats opposed to Biden’s policy in Gaza can demonstrate that we hold his margin of victory for re-election. Biden must earn our vote through a dramatic change in policy.”
