Teamsters Union Polls Show Trump Leading Harris By Wide Margin Among Members

Polling data released by the Teamsters union indicates that President Donald Trump is the preferred candidate for a majority of its members, with Kamala Harris trailing significantly. These results, gathered from internal union polling, highlight the growing support for Trump among labor union members in the 2024 race.

The Teamsters Electronic Member Poll, conducted from July 24 to September 15, revealed that Trump garnered 59.6% of the vote, while Harris received 34%. A further 6.4% of members supported other candidates. The Teamsters Research Phone Poll, conducted from September 9 to 15, showed similar results, with Trump capturing 58% support and Harris earning 31%. Additionally, 6% of respondents were undecided, and 5% were unsure.

This represents a notable shift in the political landscape, as union members have traditionally favored Democratic candidates. However, Trump’s platform appears to be resonating more with the Teamsters’ rank and file. Sean M. O’Brien, the union’s General President, emphasized the importance of member input in the endorsement process, sharing the results on X.

“Our members’ voices must guide the direction of our union,” O’Brien stated. While the Teamsters have yet to endorse a candidate, the General Executive Board is expected to make a decision soon, possibly by Wednesday.

The union’s eventual endorsement could play a critical role in the 2024 election, particularly as Trump gains favor among its members.
