Security Clearances Pulled From Intelligence Officials Who Misled Voters

The Trump administration has taken swift action to hold intelligence officials accountable for misleading the American people. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard confirmed Monday that security clearances have been revoked for 51 former intelligence officers who dismissed Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation during the 2020 election cycle.

The list of those stripped of clearances includes former intelligence leaders such as James Clapper, John Brennan, Mike Hayden, and Leon Panetta. Also impacted are former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Gabbard’s announcement, made via X, also revealed that former President Joe Biden would no longer be receiving the President’s Daily Brief, ending his access to classified national security reports. The decision aligns with an executive order issued by President Donald Trump upon returning to office, which called for intelligence officials to be held accountable for election-related misinformation.

The letter signed by the 51 intelligence officials played a key role in shaping public perception ahead of the 2020 election. Media outlets used it to dismiss reports on Hunter Biden’s laptop, preventing voters from seeing key details about the Biden family’s business dealings.

Despite signing the letter, some officials later acknowledged that they knew the laptop’s contents were real. Former CIA officer Douglas Wise admitted that a “significant portion” of the material was authentic, yet he and others still framed the issue as a potential foreign influence operation.

Gabbard has been actively reshaping the intelligence community. In February, she revoked security clearances and dismissed over 100 National Security Agency employees after discovering that they had been using an internal chat system for inappropriate discussions.
