Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has formally joined forces with President Donald Trump, citing the Democratic Party’s underhanded tactics as a major factor in his decision. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Kennedy discussed how Democratic operatives reached out to people from his past in a bid to gather dirt on him. These efforts, which he described as “mafia tactics,” ultimately pushed him toward supporting Trump. Kennedy highlighted three main issues that solidified his choice: free speech, the Ukraine war, and the protection of children’s rights.
Kennedy’s endorsement is more than symbolic. He has taken on an active role in Trump’s campaign, helping shape policy and assisting with transition planning. Despite opposition from his family, Kennedy remains resolute, believing that the Democratic Party has lost sight of its original values. He argued that their focus on undermining him was a miscalculation that could cost them the election.
Kennedy also revealed that internal polling showed he was drawing more support from Trump’s base than from Harris’s supporters. Yet, Democrats continued to attack him, which he views as a strategic failure. Had they not interfered, Kennedy believes they would have had a stronger chance in 2024.
In the interview, Kennedy provided specific examples of how the Democrats’ tactics backfired. One instance involved an old acquaintance from an AA meeting being contacted by party operatives. Kennedy said these actions only confirmed his decision to distance himself from the Democrats and align with Trump.
Kennedy’s focus now is on helping Trump secure a second term. He sees this partnership as essential to defending American freedoms and reversing what he views as the Democrats’ authoritarian drift. His involvement in the campaign marks a significant realignment in the 2024 political landscape, with lasting implications for both parties.
