Planned Parenthood’s Election Interference Raises Serious Concerns

Planned Parenthood’s decision to fund Pennsylvania school board candidates is sparking outrage among parents who view this as a dangerous overreach by a federally subsidized nonprofit. Critics argue that the organization’s actions are inappropriate and undermine the role of families in shaping their children’s education.

The group’s agenda includes promoting explicit sexual education and controversial gender ideology. Planned Parenthood also facilitates access to hormone treatments for minors, which many believe are inappropriate decisions for children to make without parental involvement.

Gov. Josh Shapiro has cultivated close ties with Planned Parenthood. Early in his term, he met with the organization’s leaders to discuss expanding abortion access. Additionally, his deputy chief of staff, Lindsey Mauldin, previously worked for Planned Parenthood, raising questions about the nonprofit’s outsized influence in state policies.

Conservative groups are mobilizing against Planned Parenthood’s push into local elections. Tina Descovich, co-founder of Moms for Liberty, described the organization’s involvement as outrageous. “This is not what federal subsidies were intended for,” she said. “Planned Parenthood’s interference in these elections is an affront to parental rights.”

Planned Parenthood has also developed teacher training programs aimed at promoting its values. These workshops, covering topics like gender identity, have drawn sharp criticism from parents who believe schools should focus on academics, not activism.

This unprecedented interference in school board elections underscores the dangers of allowing federally funded organizations to shape public education. Parents and local leaders are calling for a stronger response to prevent advocacy groups from influencing decisions that should remain in the hands of families.
