Joe Rogan Skips UFC 315 In Montreal, Citing Deep Concern Over Canadian Government

Joe Rogan won’t be making the trip to Montreal for UFC 315, and his reason is more than just personal preference. On his podcast, Rogan made it clear he’s boycotting travel to Canada due to what he sees as an authoritarian government that tramples civil rights.

“I don’t go to Canada anymore,” he said on a recent episode. “I’d rather go to Russia.”

Rogan has long been vocal about Canada’s heavy-handed response to peaceful dissent, especially during the trucker protests over vaccine mandates. He said the way the government cracked down on working-class citizens raised serious red flags.

Though he was careful to separate the leadership from the people, calling Canadians “awesome,” Rogan didn’t hold back in his criticism of the state. He cited Canada’s extreme “wokeness” and ongoing censorship as factors in his decision to avoid visiting.

Rogan’s stance comes as President Donald Trump continues to press Canada with economic and political pressure, including tariffs and comments about potentially making the country part of the U.S. Canadian leaders like Mark Carney have pushed back, calling Trump’s actions a threat to sovereignty.

The UFC personality has said he doesn’t believe Canada should become the 51st state, but he agrees that the Trudeau-era clampdowns were a wake-up call. Rogan previously praised the truckers for standing up for their rights and has remained critical of the treatment they received.

While the upcoming UFC event in Montreal will go on without him, Rogan’s absence makes a statement that many fans and critics are sure to notice. The card includes a championship clash between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, along with a co-main event featuring Valentina Shevchenko and Manon Fiorot.
