Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has called for totalitarian regulation of social media platforms, stating that without proper moderation, “we lose total control.” In an appearance on CNN’s Michael Smerconish show, Clinton emphasized the need for federal action to address content that the failed presidential candidate deems dangerous.
Clinton specifically highlighted the need to repeal Section 230, a law that provides internet platforms with legal immunity for content posted by users. She argued that the law was created with an “overly simple view” of how platforms operate, emphasizing that companies like Facebook, Twitter and TikTok need to take responsibility for moderating their content.
The call is clearly intended to open the platforms up to the kind of lawfare faced by President Donald Trump by the left, forcing them to moderate content the way they were forced during the 2020 presidential election.
Clinton also criticized Congress for being “dysfunctional” in addressing online threats to children and the broader public, saying that national action is necessary. She referenced previous efforts by California and New York to regulate platforms but stressed that a federal solution is required.
In previous interviews, Clinton has expressed frustration with media coverage of President Donald Trump, arguing that his actions have disqualified him from being a presidential candidate. She has also called for civil or criminal penalties for those spreading what she considers election-related “propaganda,” referencing her 2016 election loss.
Clinton seems determined to censor information online. Given the information available about her and her nefarious husband, it’s clear why she wants to delete unapproved content on the internet.
