FBI Investigates Swatting Surge As Conservatives Sound The Alarm

The FBI is stepping in after a spike in swatting attacks targeting conservative media figures, with Director Kash Patel pledging federal action. Patel addressed the issue on X on March 14, stating that the agency is working with local law enforcement to stop the dangerous hoax calls.

Gateway Pundit reported that independent journalist Nick Sortor and his family were among the latest victims. According to the outlet, Sortor’s father was swatted after a caller falsely claimed he was “killing my entire family,” triggering an armed response. The attack followed an email in which an unknown individual called Sortor a “Nazi,” raising concerns about doxing leading to these incidents.

The Daily Mail covered the swatting of Chase Geiser, a conservative commentator who was targeted twice in less than 12 hours. Police responded to a call falsely claiming Geiser had threatened to kill his family. Officers later confirmed the report was a hoax.

According to The Post Millennial, conservative influencer Gunther Eagleman also experienced swatting. The outlet reported that a false hostage situation was reported at his home, mirroring the tactics used in other recent attacks. Eagleman later credited his local police department for handling the situation responsibly.

Patel’s statement emphasized the severity of the threat, making it clear that law enforcement is taking the issue seriously. “We are fully committed to working with local law enforcement to crack down on these crimes,” he wrote.

With federal authorities now involved, those responsible for the attacks could soon face serious legal consequences. Patel has promised additional updates as the FBI continues its investigation.
