America First Legal (AFL) released documents showing the Biden administration’s alleged efforts to suppress conservative speech. AFL obtained these documents through legal action against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The documents reveal that the now-disbanded Homeland Intelligence Experts Group aimed to address “domestic terrorism,” including political dissent. AFL claims the group, advised by John Brennan and James Clapper, was biased and designed to support the administration’s agenda.
AFL’s Executive Director, Gene Hamilton, stated, “The American people need to read these records and our exposé of the Biden Administration’s efforts to further weaponize the government to achieve their objectives.” He emphasized that Congress should prevent the administration from using these actors to push their agenda.
The DHS group, formed in September 2023, intended to provide intelligence and national security advice but was criticized for its partisan nature. DHS disbanded the group in May following AFL’s legal action. The conservative legal group has been releasing documents as part of its “#DeepStateDiaries” series, showing plans to create campaigns, collaborate with local authorities, and engage popular podcasters to spread their message.
The advisory body, led by Brennan and Clapper, had previously signed a 2020 letter suggesting that information from Hunter Biden’s laptop was likely Russian disinformation. The laptop has since been verified by various outlets and experts.
