Vice President Kamala Harris has recently taken a tougher stance on the issue, which may be in response to polls showing that voters trust President Donald Trump more when it comes to handling immigration.
During a CNN segment, host Jake Tapper asked Alvarez if Harris has explained why her position has changed since 2019. Alvarez noted that Harris has focused on the administration’s actions but has not directly addressed her shift in viewpoint.
As the number of migrants being sent to Democratic-controlled cities grows, the pressure on the party to address the situation increases. Democrats now find themselves in a position where they must balance calls for reform with the need for stricter border enforcement.
