Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has voiced support for kicker Harrison Butker’s newly formed political action committee, UPRIGHT, which is dedicated to promoting traditional conservative values. The PAC was introduced last weekend, with Butker taking center stage to advocate for Christian values in schools, media, and government.
Hunt said he encourages his players to use their platform to make a difference, regardless of political affiliation. “I’m not at all concerned when our players use their platform to make a difference,” Hunt stated, in response to questions about Butker’s involvement with the PAC.
Butker’s PAC has already endorsed Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) ahead of his 2024 election campaign, with Butker emphasizing the need to protect traditional values that he believes are under attack. The PAC’s website calls for Christians across the nation to get involved in the political process to safeguard these values at the ballot box.
Butker’s controversial remarks earlier this year at Benedictine College, where he encouraged women to focus on motherhood, drew criticism, with many calling his comments outdated. Despite the backlash, Butker has remained steadfast, saying, “I’m going to continue to say what I believe to be true.”
The Hunt family, known for its conservative positions, has supported efforts in Missouri to prevent the state’s abortion ban from being overturned. While Butker expressed disappointment with President Donald Trump’s stance on women’s rights, he still labeled him the “most pro-life president” and endorsed him for 2024.
