Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, was reportedly banned from being alone with female interns at the company due to his inappropriate behavior. This information comes from a new book by New York Times reporter Anupreeta Das, titled “Billionaire, Nerd, Savior, King: Bill Gates and His Quest to Shape Our World,” which was reviewed by the Daily Mail.
Das writes that Gates frequently flirted with young women at Microsoft and the Gates Foundation, making interns uncomfortable and putting them in a difficult position regarding their career prospects. “In one instance a colleague chastised one person for sending a 22-year-old intern to Gates’ office by herself, saying: ‘She’s too young and too pretty,’” Das notes.
Gates’ marriage with Melinda Gates reportedly began to unravel in 2019 after his connection to Jeffrey Epstein came to light. Das alleges numerous instances of infidelity, including Gates asking a Microsoft employee out to dinner while he was still the company’s chairman.
The book also describes how the Gates’ marriage faced significant challenges in the mid-2000s, leading them to seek marriage counseling. Despite his marriage, Gates maintained an arrangement with tech entrepreneur Ann Winblad to spend a weekend together annually. After his divorce from Melinda, Gates started a relationship with Paula Hurd, the widow of former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd.
Melinda Gates first met Bill in 1987 when she was a young employee at Microsoft, where Gates was her superior.
