As the Biden administration rushes another $500 million in military aid to Ukraine, thousands of American families in North Carolina are being forced out of FEMA-funded hotels today. These 3,500 families, still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, now face freezing temperatures and an incoming snowstorm with no place to go. This stark contrast between the billions spent overseas and the neglect of citizens at home highlights the Biden administration’s misplaced priorities.
FEMA’s Transitional Sheltering Assistance program, which provided temporary hotel housing for hurricane survivors, officially ends today. FEMA claims that families no longer qualify for support because their homes were declared “habitable,” they declined inspections, or they were unreachable. However, many families say FEMA failed to follow up with promised inspections or offer clear communication about their housing status, leaving them without any support.
North Carolina is still a mess, people were getting kicked out to hotels on the coldest day of the year an FEMA was not reachable. Awful.

Already forgot about the people of North Carolina and they are getting kicked out of hotels into the cold.

While FEMA cuts off aid to struggling Americans, the Biden administration has funneled more than $175 billion to Ukraine since 2022. The recent $500 million aid package includes military equipment and weapons, further deepening America’s involvement in a foreign war with little accountability. Meanwhile, the same government cannot provide adequate housing for its own citizens enduring harsh winter conditions.
Now do North Carolina where people are still freezing
Ur gonna need NC in 28
They won't forget if the administration doesn't get up there and help those people. They were forced out of hotels yesterday. The vouchers expired. #NorthCarolina— Abigail's Dad (@Georgiapapi) January 10, 2025
I’m a WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA RESIDENT! We got $750! And when I say we, I mean, only a few people got it! we are completely devastated here. Five months no help!Below freezing temperatures people IN TENTS! FEMA just kicked out all of the people they were housing in hotels!

North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis (R) condemned FEMA’s failure to extend assistance, calling the agency’s inaction “unacceptable.” He urged FEMA to eliminate bureaucratic barriers and swiftly deploy federal resources to help vulnerable families still suffering from the hurricane’s aftermath. Tillis warned that thousands are now at greater risk as temperatures fall into the teens and snow blankets the region.
Biden found 500Million for California. 700 dollar checks and Eviction notices for North Carolina.

Adding to the frustration, FEMA has delivered only 90 of the promised temporary homes to North Carolina residents. With emergency shelters already overwhelmed, many families are left with no safe options as snow and ice threaten the state.
He promises endless amounts of money 💰 to the same people who mismanaged it the first time !!
meanwhile, people in North Carolina are getting eviction notices out of their hotels in the freezing cold tonight.
Apparently there’s no money 💰 👇https://t.co/LnCmeVvZG8— Faith (@mumzeefaith) January 9, 2025
Yet FEMA kicked out thousands of people from North Carolina out of hotels this week. WTF is this BS. Nothing for them, Florida, Ohio, ect…

Despite the worsening situation at home, the Biden administration continues prioritizing billions in foreign aid. For many Americans watching this unfold, it is clear that their own government has turned its back on them in their time of need.

Local shelters are working to expand capacity, but resources are stretched thin. Families now face brutal winter weather without stable housing or federal support.
