On Sunday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stated that former President Donald Trump “ordered a terrorist attack” on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. She shared her comments during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper.

Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) began by saying there has never “been a president … subject to this level of criminal charges … this is not about politics. This is about corruption and criminality.”
The congresswoman added: “We’re talking about an individual who ordered, essentially, a terrorist attack on the capital of the United States in order to retain power.”
Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has a history of making false and misleading statements. Last week, during a congressional hearing concerning Hunter Biden, AOC received sharp criticism after wrongfully stating that “RICO is not a crime.”
In 2022, PolitiFact blasted the congresswoman for posting the following fabrication: “In Texas, Republicans passed a law allowing rapists to sue their victims for getting an abortion.”
According to Fox News, Ocasio-Cortez once declared that there was “no debate” that fossil fuel production should be stopped. “There’s no debate,” she emphasized.
The Daily Signal reported that just before AOC took office, she responded to a question by MSNBC’s Chris Hayes regarding what she planned to do when she took office. Ocasio-Cortez offered this meandering response:
“Well, I think a lot of it has to do with changing our strategy around governance. You know there’s a lot of inside baseball and inside the beltway as you, you always hear that term thrown around. But there are very few organizers in Congress. And I do think that organizers operate differently. It’s a different kind of strategy. And what it is, is really about organizing and, and really thinking about that word: organizing.”
AOC added: “Segmenting people. Being strategic in their actions in really bringing together a cohesive strategy of putting pressure on the chamber instead of only focusing on the pressures inside the chamber.”
Hayes replied: “That’s a really interesting thought.”
The congresswoman’s remarks come as Trump faces four indictments and approximately 90 federal and civil charges.
Sky News Australia reported that though most lower courts have ruled against him, Trump is winning in the court of public opinion and continues to rise in the polls with each punitive measure imposed by DOJ officials.
The Washington Examiner projected that Trump will top Biden “by 4-9 points in every 2024 swing state.”
