275 Linemen Stay At Trump’s Resort To Prepare For Hurricane Milton Recovery

As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida’s Gulf Coast, President Donald Trump opened his Miami golf resort to 275 linemen from Florida Power & Light, providing them shelter before they begin work to restore power after the storm. Eric Trump announced the gesture on social media, praising the linemen for their hard work and wishing them safety during the storm response.

Hurricane Milton, which has been downgraded to a Category 3, is still expected to cause significant flooding and infrastructure damage. Nearly 6 million Floridians are under mandatory evacuation orders, with officials bracing for widespread impacts once the storm makes landfall.

The linemen staying at Trump’s resort are part of the largest staging of utility workers in U.S. history, as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has called in over 50,000 linemen to assist in power restoration efforts. DeSantis stated that recovery efforts will begin as soon as conditions allow.

Trump’s Doral resort, known for its luxury accommodations, typically charges more than $300 per night for its rooms. In addition to providing shelter for the workers, Trump has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help those affected by Hurricane Helene, which hit the Southeast last week. The fundraiser has already raised over $7 million.

Meanwhile, tensions arose between DeSantis and Vice President Kamala Harris, with Harris accusing the governor of avoiding her calls regarding Hurricane Milton. DeSantis dismissed the claims as political posturing, with President Joe Biden praising DeSantis’ cooperation during the storm preparations.
